Families First Announces January Programs

PORTSMOUTH - All parents and children are welcome at Families First Health and Support Center’s parenting classes and playgroups. Unless otherwise noted, programs are free and include free child care. Programs require advance signup unless otherwise noted; child care always requires advance signup. In Portsmouth (at the Community Campus):


· Using the 1-2-3 Magic System, Jan. 5 and 12, 6 p.m.

· Your Child and Sleep, Jan. 19 and 26, 6 p.m.

· Helping a Child with ADHD or Similar issues, Jan. 13, 6 p.m.

· Learn from Your Family’s Holiday Experience, Jan. 14, 9:30 a.m.

· Teaching Kids about Money, Jan. 28, 9:30 a.m.

· Grandparenting, 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month, 9:30 a.m. January topic: Sharing your stories with future generations.

· Toddler Playtime, Mondays, 9:30 a.m. Drop-ins OK. $5 fee.

· Make It and Take It, craftmaking for parents and kids, Tuesdays at noon.

Come and meet the Ghosts on the Banke at Strawbery Banke’s famous Halloween celebration. Long-dead sea captains, 17th century shopkeepers and wayward pirates haunt the streets of Portsmouth’s oldest neighborhood as you trick or treat safely from house to historic house.

Activities include:

  • Safe Trick-or-Treating from historic house to historic house
  • The Witch's House
  • Visit the Ghosts of Pitt Tavern
  • Outdoor Movie - The Corpse Bride (Rated PG)
  • All Hallows Eve Bonfire
  • Winn Strobe Ghosts
  • Werewolves in the Abbott Orchard Grave Yard
  • Funeral Procession through the historic grounds
  • Haunted Garden at the Aldrich House
  • Spooky Snacks - Hot dogs, Kettle Corn, Applr Crisp, Root Beer Floats

Tickets are $6.00 per person. Tickets can be purchased on the night of the event or you can purchase your tickets online by clicking here (please print your email confirmation and bring it with you to the museum as this is your ticket. No physical tickets will be mailed). Online tickets will be available until 4:30pm each night. After 4:30pm, please visit us at the museum to purchase your tickets for the evening.

PORTSMOUTH – All parents and children are welcome at the parenting classes, playgroups and other programs that Families First Health and Support Center will offer in November. All programs are free of charge unless otherwise noted, and all include free child care, with dinner for kids during evening programs.
